A missing tool for creative educators
I have been leading many workshops for both College faculty and K12 teachers on the use of AI in Education. As educators move beyond a fearful view of AI, they begin to explore ways that their students can utilize AI as part of their learning. Unfortunately there is a major gap in the marketplace for educational solutions for student's use of AI.
There are good solutions if all you need is tutoring, but if you need a solution that goes beyond tutoring your options are more limited. For tutoring, Khanmigo is the best example for K12, and there are some great startups exploring tutoring solutions for higher education. If you are looking at a pure tutoring solution for higher education, checkout what Perry Samson and team have created over at Learning Clues.
Faculty looking at innovative ways of integrating AI into your courses will typically send their students directly to ChatGPT or Claude and ask the students to cut and paste in an initial prompt to begin the activity. This approach has some real limitations, and with Dramatis AI we have built a purposeful solution that allows an educator to shape the environment in which students utilize AI in their courses.
Some of the innovative AI usage promoted by leaders in the field and research on the use of AI to support student learning requires a purpose built tool where students can safely use an AI that is controlled and setup by the instructor. These AI form a "cast of characters" (Dramatis Personae) that students can utilize as part of their learning.
Dramatis AI lets you build personae for:
- tutoring
- Feedback & Assessment
- Simulations and Role Playing exercises
- Reflection
- Guided Processes
- Using an AI as a collborator
For each of these modalities we leverage the best educational research to support you in designing a chatbot.
